BJP Parliamentary Councilor and OBC Morcha National President K. Laxman said that simultaneous Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections (One Nation – One Election) are a certainty and the party will register unimaginable victories in the South.
Addressing the media here on Thursday, Mr. Laxman said that the BJP is making inroads into states that were hitherto bastions of regional parties and the results will be seen sooner than later.
He attributed the successes to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under whose leadership India was poised to become the world’s third largest economy in the foreseeable future.
In contrast, Mr. Laxman recalled how corruption was rampant during the Congress era, quoting former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s statement that “only 15 paise of every rupee reached the poor”.
He claimed that through direct benefit transfer (DBT), the NDA government had disbursed ₹25 lakh crore without any corruption.
Mr. Laxman said that the BJP-led NDA government is firmly committed to the development of Andhra Pradesh and this is evident from the huge financial support extended to the state for more than a decade. The Centre’s massive funding of infrastructure works in Andhra Pradesh was set to turn the state into a logistics hub. Railway projects in the state have received ₹10,134 crore from 2024, he added.
The Hyderabad-Bengaluru and Hyderabad-Chennai high-speed rail corridors would enable the state to take quick steps, he claimed.
Further, Mr. Laxman said that more than 200 temples in Andhra Pradesh were vandalized during the tenure of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government. The adulteration of ghee used to make Tirupati laddu prasadam was another proof of the YSRCP’s attitude towards Hinduism, he observed.
