One other case of Nipah was reported in the state on Saturday, when a 58 -year -old man who died in a private hospital in Perithalmann in the evening tested in the initial tests positively to a deadly virus.
A man from Kumaramputhur, near Mannarkkad, in the Palakkad district was treated in a hospital for fever -related diseases. Its sample was sent for testing because it reportedly showed symptoms of NIPAH, including acute mental disorientation.
Initial tests performed in the Virological Laboratory at the Government Faculty of Medicine Manjeri proved to be positive on Saturday evening. However, the final confirmation must come from the National Institute of Virology, Pune.
The fresh Nipah case came at a time when the medical authorities began to release the restrictions deposited as a result of two cases of NIPah reported in Palakkad and Malappuram districts.
Six departments in Thachanattukara and Karimpuzha Panchayats in the Palakkad district and 20 wards in Kuru, Makkaraparamba and Panchayats in the Malappuram district were declared detained zones. However, the restrictions were canceled in Malappuram on Thursday and Palakkad.
After the new Nipah case in Kumarampumpuur, medical officials in Palakkad and Malappurama are racing to watch anyone who has come into contact with the victim in recent weeks.
On Saturday, 497 people across the state were observed for Nipah. According to Minister of Health Veena George, 203 were in Malappuram, 114 in Kozhikod, 178 in Palakkad and two in Ernacula.
Ten people on the list of Nipah contacts in Malappuram were treated, one of which was in the intensive care unit. Up to 62 samples were tested in Malappuram. In Palakkad, five people were treated in isolation.
