In moving to redefine the role of women in the state workforce, Kudumbashree, in cooperation with Vigian Kerala, is launching a campaign called “One Lakh Jobs for Onam”.
On Saturday, the Keral Institute for Local Administration in Mulankunnatukav announced, Minister of Local MB Rajesh said that the campaign was designed to bring women out of their homes and lead them to economic independence, social recognition and self -esteem. The aim of decentralized employment is to train and provide the location of one lake woman onam, combining skills development, comparison of jobs and mobilization at local level.
Replicable model
“This project is not only about employment, but about liberation,” said Mr. Rajesh. “The point is how to bring women to the heart of the economy. As well as a movement of literacy and planning of people that once set benchmarks for social transformation, this campaign is also to become another replicable model from Kerala.
Only 20% of employed women in the state are currently employed outside their homes. “Our goal is to increase it to 50% in the coming years and this campaign is the first big step,” said TM Thomas Isaac, main advisor Vigian Kerala.
The campaign that focuses on women who focused on career breaks because of their family duties, offers customized skills programs at local level. Kudumbashree and Vigian Kerala will work with agencies such as ASAP, Kase and other accredited institutions for skill development to provide training. Local self -governing institutions (LSGIS) are expected to integrate project plans into their July budgets and ensure the financing of the project.
Job fairs in local bodies
The inspection of the presidents and secretaries of local self -governing institutions and secretaries, chaired by Mr. Rajesh from 3 to 5 July, completed the operational plan. Implementation units will be set up in state and district missions Kudumbashree with the support of Vigan Kerala. Work fairs will take place until July and August in all blocks, municipalities and corporations.
The key part of the campaign is to question the social stigma associated with the wives in the household looking for a job, said Isaac. “Women often stay outside jobs not because of a lack of talent or qualifications, but because of lack of exposure, support and opportunities. This campaign will change it,” he said.
Women over 30
Each type of work will be supported by custom training programs, including soft skills and digital literacy. Special focus will be devoted to women over 30 years – the group has often been pushed in conventional work programs.
The District Vigian Council led ministers have already been created, with plans to establish similar councils at the level of block and Panchayat in July. Kudumbashree CDS units will map local job requirements and identify women suitable for each sector.
“This campaign is a way for Kudumbashree because it means 25 years-to strengthen their position with wages for their successful model of self-employment,” the minister said. “It will create significant social and economic momentum and impact on GDP keraly,” he added.
