
The man was killed and 13 others, including three children, was injured when she collapsed in the provisional spectators’ gallery at the Kabaddi flood tournament in Malanayakanakatte Village in the Mandy district.
The deceased was identified as papannachari over the age of 50. The injured was treated at the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (Mims).
The Minister of Agriculture N. Cheluvarayaswamy, who is also the Minister responsible for the Mandya district, said that the organizers of the KABADDI tournament have received a police permit, but the gallery built for this occasion was not strong enough to support a large number of people who gathered to follow the event.
The Minister said that the Mims authorities were given instructions to provide free medical treatment to all injured and ensured that they would properly take care of them until they were released. Among the injuries is the daughter of the deceased papannachari.
Cheluvarayaswamy described Mr. Papannachari’s death as “unfortunate” and said he would investigate the opportunity to provide his other relatives from the government.
On Sunday, the Minister donated his last respect to the deceased in Mims Mortare.
Previously, MLA for Melkote Darshan Puttannaiah visited the hospital and asked for their condition. Meanwhile, the Minister of Trade Unions for the Heavy Industry and the HD Kumaraswamy steel described the incident as “unfortunate”.
Mr. Kumaraswamy, who is also a Mandya deputy, said his party leaders reported him that Mr. Papannachari lost his life and tried to save the lives of others. He hoped that God would give his family members the power to bear the loss. He also wanted early recovery of the injured.
Former Minister and leader JD (s) CS Puttaraju visited Mims to ask for the status of children and call on the state government to provide compensation to Mr. Papannachari’s family.
