The forest department has arrested a 35-year-old man Kumar of Kongarahalli village in Kollegal taluk in connection with the recent death of a tiger near Gundal Dam.
A statement from the Deputy Conservator of Forests, Wildlife Sub-Division, Yelandur, said a case was registered in connection with the death of a tiger on February 15.
Kumar was questioned on Thursday during the investigation. He was subsequently arrested and remanded in judicial custody, the statement said, adding that further investigation into the case is ongoing.
It may be mentioned here that an earlier press release by Deputy Conservator of Forests and Director of BRT Tiger Reserve, Chamarajanagar, identified the deceased tiger as around 5-6 years of age and added that preliminary sightings indicated that the tiger might have been caught in a trap.
