The inhabitants rejoice in the inauguration action because the effort to revive the lake pays off
Around 9 o’clock on Saturday, the crowd of Kasturinagar in the East Bengalur went around 100. Members of the Association for Social Security Kasturinagar (KWA) and the inhabitants danced while women and children dressed in green and white held labels as they went to Lake B. Channasandra.
As soon as the lake has covered about 19 acres over the years, over the years it has been reduced to 6.3 acres due to neglect, ejection of garbage and building residues and waste water inside. When Bengalur faced one of the worst drought in 2023, Kwa and the inhabitants joined the revival of the lake, which had long been neglected.
14th June meant a formal inauguration of the revived lake B. Channasandra, which N. Ravindrakumar, a representative of the forest, Bengaluru, called the work that was introduced by the inhabitants of Kasturinar. The invitation to the event was also in a similar line. “When people come together, nature finds the way back,” he said.
“Initially, a group of 100 volunteers decided to contribute 1,000 every month when we started working on the lake,” said Abhijith NS, volunteer Kwa.
Initial work included towing the lake using a tractor and heavy machines as soon as the garbage was removed and the soil was leveled along the water body. A composite wall was later built around the lake.
As the project increased, KWA has worked with Hands on CSR, a non -governmental organization that helped with financing, and CGI, a software company that helped to release CSI funds that were necessary to complete the project.
Since the lake came under the forest department of Karnataka, Mr. Ravindra Kumar has been issued a certificate without objections (night), because the work began from 11 October last year. The excavation lasted about five weeks because further determination and desludging were carried out.
The estimated project costs were CRORE 1.15 GBP with three gradual funds.
The project faced several challenges. “Sometimes we received threats from real estate agents who looked at the ground, but thanks to the forest department everything went smoothly. Our goal is to preserve and make it as a forest lake,” said Mr. Abhijith.
