When SHUBMAN GILL was named the 37th Captain of the India test, there were more skeptics than supporters – just a weeks after two giants of the Indian cricket, Rohit Sharma and Virt Kohli left the format. Many thought Gill had not done enough to make a bracelet. Even Rohit, in his latest conversation as the Sydney test captain, indicated that Nextgen would have to earn his stripes in the most sacred format of the game.
But with the fact that Kohli also resigned and the workload of Jasprit Bumurah was growing concerns, selectioners and head coach calculated the calculated risk. The crossing came before expected – and it was also aimed.
In May and June, the Indian cricket saw Churn again. Some of the largest, most banking stars of sport left the test cricket just before the main tour. Several fans might even swear the format completely – many of them raised a promise when Sachin Tendulkar left in Mumbai in 2013. But as in life, sport moves on.
Now, the new Indian captain – the anointed prince of the Indian cricket – is gaining more guarded and more compound than some of its predecessors. In Leeds, before the biggest test of her career, Gill addressed the media with silent confidence. He did not include the aura that defined Kohli. Not even was an easy humor that made Rohit Sharma became a darling before the game. Gill has been measured and the point.
When he went out for throwing in the headingley, even we spectators could not quite understand the weight of the moment. This meant a tectonic shift in the Indian test cricket – but he didn’t feel like one. The subtitles concerned who wasn’t there, when they should be about who had just arrived.

He was not going to go to Gill’s way to debut as a test captain. England decided to mix at the venue where the last six tests won the team bat in second place. Calculated movement.

Yet this new view of India-Hrada Mein Ghoomne Wale Bande-was not moved. During the temporary phases in the Indian cricket, they died their business with non -compliance.
Yashsvi Jaiswal, who could soon search for villas in London and Kl Rahul opened the calm of two veterans. Sure, Jofra Archer and Gus Atkinson lacked England, but the new ball was moving – and the openers had to be smart. And they were.
They left well, resisted the bait and waited for the bad balls. Chris Woakes-England post-andrson destroyers-Josh language, Brydon Cars and Ben Stokes All under Leeds Sun. Nothing wide was affected, nothing free was spared. Rahul and Jaiswal punishment of Poise, management with balance and purpose.
In one place, Sanjay Manjrekar, about commentary, he made pointed notes. He suggested that the virat kohli could fall on one of those “suction balls” of England still offering – unlike Rahul and Jaiswal, who held their shape and nerves. Courtesy: Reuters
India dominated in the first meeting. But in the test cricket, the control is never absolute.
Just ten minutes before lunch, the Rahul-Kirty was covering the cover color like a dream of a shot that brought him all morning. This time wide delivery CARSE invited one shot too much.
When it was six minutes left, Sai Sudhasan’s debutant came and rushed through the nerves. He fell on the duck and chased the ball on the side of his leg after trying too hard to get out of the brand.
From 91 for 0, India slipped to 91 in 2. The last 10 minutes before lunch were the only truly anxiety moments 1. Day.
But what followed was a statement.
India bent her pre -purned nerves with calm. The rest of the day belonged to them – a reassuring sign for fans who witnessed the first day in the Nextgen office.
Jaiswal got to his hundreds and became the first Indian opener to do so in Leeds.
Then the captain took the lead. SHUBMAN GILL did his day.
SHUBMAN GILL will make a statement
The questions about its altitude were not about leadership. They were about numbers – especially abroad. Before Friday, Gill reached an average of 29.50 overseas and managed in hay countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia).
But just like another young captain who once made in Adelaide 11 years ago, Gill showed that he could only expose himself under responsibility.
He burned the monk’s control. His control percentage in Headingley was one of the highest day. England focused on its well -known weakness – Posemers who formed it to hit the pads – but after a few nervous moments Gill soon settled.
The whole vans were controlled. Short was cut and pulled by authority. He and Jaiswal added 129 runs for the third goal at the other end and dominated the second meeting.
When Gill reached hundreds, he released atypical roar. The bow of the trademark came later. But the roar felt like a message: the arrival of a captain who can only have a rare ability to separate his two jobs – Batt and leaders.
Kohli Flair wasn’t there. But the gravel was. Likewise, hunger to remain silent.
When Kohli hit the debut in Adelaide Twin Tons in Adelaide, he erased the scars of miserable England.
It seemed poetic that Gill also had a point to prove his first day in the office. And he did it with a silent defiance.
Pant vice-capitan promises
And then there were Rishabh Pant.
The new vice -president of India lit up the last meeting with his usual courage. He reminded the world that he could still entertain in white. His knocks left the pitch – and some fans of England – no matter. When was the last time you saw that the dough would charge Pacer with six balls left during the day and release it into the stands?
Jaiswal: 101. Gill: 127. Pant: 63. India: 359/3 on stumps.
“This is a T20 dough – they deliver players for their franchises,” said Sanjay Manjrekar with pride, Jiocinema. “But they also have this party. It’s incredible – they show better defensive techniques than players from 2011 or 2015.
England knew that day 1 would be highly score-the Leeds and the era of Bazball requires it. However, they would not expect to chase shadows of stumps. Courtesy: Reuters
When the second new ball was taken late on the day, England didn’t work into it – they wrapped themselves. Their shoulders dropped. Once Stokes looked briefly answers.
Anything can happen. But on this day, England – and the world – publishes something new. Gill India can be young but not intimidated. They won’t play safely. And if you reduce the guard, they will come for you.
You saw it in Manjrekar’s smile. And in a smile of millions of Indian fans around the world – surely, hopeful, maybe even proud. The future of the Indian test cricket felt safe again. In the hands of boys who still dream of being like Kohli and Rohit – not only for glory, but for fire, fight and silent love that they carry for a test cricket.
