The fifth day of the annual Kartheeka Brahmotsavams at the Tiruchanur Padmavati Ammavari Temple on Friday witnessed Pallaki Utsavam in the morning and Gaja Vahana Seva in the evening.
The deity of Goddess Padmavati, despite the constant drizzle, was carried in flower-decked palanquins in the morning as thousands of devotees lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the procession.
Snapana Tirumanjanam (heavenly bath) was performed in the afternoon followed by Vasanthotsavam in the evening.
The Lakshmi Kasula Haram, the golden ornament adorning the presiding deity in the Tirumala Temple, was brought down the hill to Tiruchanur as a special gift from Lord Venkateswara to His consort for the festive occasion. The precious jewel was carried in the Sobha Yatra by TTD Executive Director Anil Kumar Singhal, another EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary and Joint EO V. Veerabrahmam who carried it on their heads till the temple.
The evening Gaja Vahana Seva attracted huge crowds as it is considered as significant to the Goddess as the Garuda Vahana Seva is to Maha Vishnu. Being a Friday – considered auspicious and associated with womanhood – a large number of female devotees turned up to offer Harathi as the procession passed through the packed streets.
