The Chief Minister J&K Omar Abdullah distanced himself on Tuesday (April 15, 2025) from the step of the party’s legislators to recently bring a draft to the WAQF Act inside the J&K Assembly. However, Mr. Abdullah’s statement caused a sharp reaction to several opposition parties.
“Proposals for adjournment are usually submitted for matters concerning the functioning of the government. But the WAQF law was adopted by the Indian government in parliament, so it was to be raised in another procedure. He said the spokesman allowed the WAQF law, but unfortunately it was mistaken by it by submitting it,” Abdullah said.
Several MLA ruling National Conference (NC), led by MLA Tanvir Sadiq, submitted a proposal to postpone the debate on the law before the assembly. Rather, however, rather forbidden any discussion that this matter was an entity.
The MLA NC was also joined by opposition MLA, including members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and J&K Peoples Conference (JKPC), in search of an act discussion and a common resolution. A stir about the problem between the NC and the BJP MLA was stopped by the J&K assembly management.
JKPC, which demanded an apology from the main minister, urged the spokesman to organize an emergency one -day meeting “to properly solve the WAQF account”.
“Mr. Abdullah acknowledged procedural errors in manipulating the law on the WAQF law in the J&K Assembly. Those who shout for three days, and those who have not allowed any business must answer why they behaved? “” Mr. Lone said.
He also questioned the experience of veteran lawmakers NC. “I do not believe that the oldest side of J&K, with the most experienced mills, did not know what they were doing. This is my second term. If I knew it and tweeted the same day, why should it be experienced?
Mr. Lone accused the government of “orchestration of the whole episode to avoid resolutions condemning the WAQF Act”. “That was your script. The whole song and dance performance were organized by you. You did not want a resolution from the J&K assembly. In this crime you are together against Muslims India,” Mr. Lone added.
The leader of PDP ILTIJA MUFTI also focused on the NC for the inability to go through a common resolution in the assembly. “Not a single resolution was brought against the WAQF law against the WAQF. Mrs. Muti said.
Mr. Muftti, who is also the daughter of President PDP Mehboob Mufti, said the NC “failed to stand for Muslim interests in J&K”.
“J&K people feel disappointed. You normalize Article 370 and abolition. You (Omar Abdullah) You are the CM of the Muslim majority of the Muslim majority, but you say nothing (the WAQF law). BJP and NC are understanding,” she understood.
