The Italian pair Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini defeated Kazakh Anna Danilina and the Serbian Aleksandra Kruhic 6-4 2-6 6-1 to win the female doubles on Sunday at the French Open.
It was the first Grand Slam trophy for the second deployed Italians, who last year also won the title of Olympic Games in Paris 2024 in the same court.
He was also 38 -year -old veteran Errani’s second title this week after he also won the title French Open Mixed Doubles with compatriot Andrea Vavassori.
The pairs were traded with breaks in the middle of the first set in front of the Olympic gold medalists who reached the final at the French Open last year, packed it with another break at 5-4.
Danilina, the finalist of Australian Open Doubles from 2022, and Kruhice bounced back and easily earned the second set, but at the beginning of the third were twice broken when the Italians raced for 5-0 leadership.
The Italians, the sixth in the doubles ranking, packed their first Grand Slam title as a couple when Kruhic dropped into the net.
Paolini, who reached the final of female singles and doubles at the French Open last year, lost in the fourth round of this year’s singles.
