
World No. 6 Zheng Qinwen announced a short break from tennis after he recently underwent elbow surgery. A 22 -year -old woman, who won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics last year, revealed that she had experienced pain in the right elbow during training and matches. After consulting specialists, she decided on arthroscopic surgery.
Zheng, which ended up as runners in the Australian Open 2024, said it will now focus fully on its rehabilitation, which is to return stronger and better than ever.
“I want to share with you a quick update. In recent months, I have been dealing with the persistent pain in the right elbow during the training and matches. Although he tried to handle them, the inconvenience never left completely.”
“After consulting with elbow specialists and a thorough discussion of my team, we decided that arthroscopic surgery was the best choice to fully solve the problem. Last time she competed in Wimbledon, where she was excluded in the opening round of women’s singles. She fell to Katerina Siniakov of Katerina—Corrent World No. 1 in doubles-in a hard fighting match, 7-5, 4-6, 6-1.
