The match was special for local star Sanju Samson and the stadium was full of his supporters. Everyone was waiting to hear his name thrown.

During the toss, Suryakumar Yadav tried to surprise the crowd by pretending to forget Sanju Samson while talking about the changes in the playing XI. The fans reacted quickly and the atmosphere was fired up as soon as the captain playfully revealed the news. When asked about the changes in the team, SKY said, “Axar is coming back, Ishan is coming back and one more. Oh my God… Don’t worry Thiruvananthapuram, Sanju Samson is playing tonight (laughs),” he added with a laugh. The crowd cheered loudly as soon as they heard Sanju’s name.Watch:India won the toss and elected to bat first. Explaining the reason, Suryakumar talked about the dew factor and pitch conditions. He said: “We will go in to bat first. We were here last night. There was a lot of dew. So we want to test our bowlers if we are defending the total well. It is a good wicket. We had a good session last night and the curator said it will be true for the next 40 overs,” he added.He also spoke about Tilak Varma and his return to the team and SKY shared his confidence in the young player. He added: “He (Tilak) is just taking time to play a few practice matches. He has been a good player for us. When he comes back, it will be a solid side. But yes, we are really waiting for him. We have covered almost all the departments, batting, bowling and fielding.
