With the swelling of the Godavari River on Saturday on Saturday, the authorities deployed the national strength of the reaction to disasters (NDRF) and the state forces for reaction to disasters (SDRF) in the Vellerupad district and Kukunoor Mandals in the district of Eluru. The income and police officials have issued a flood warning and urged the inhabitants of vulnerable villages to move to relief camps and rehabilitation and relocation (R&R).
At 7 pm, the water level in Bhadrachalam reached 41 feet. The Polavaram project was 31.430 meters, while the irrigation department released 7.43 Lakh Cusecs downstream by raising 48 gates.
In an interview with Hindu, the Yangareddygudem Revenue Division Officer (RDO) MV Ramana said 60 NDF workers were deployed in disabled mandals, while SDR teams were also in emergency mode. “With the overflow of Yeddu Vaagu, instructions of evacuation of villagers from marginal areas were issued using ships. The ships were also located in other vulnerable places,” RDO said.
The district collector K. Vetriselvi directed officials to the flood obligation to supply rice, vegetables, edible oil and other essentials to flood villages. “People are moved to safer places where it is necessary,” Mrs. Ramana added.
RDO also stated that mandal revenue officials (MROS) and irrigation officials were instructed so as not to constitute the situation continuously.
