Allegations of irregularities reported in the media regarding the selection of candidates through sports quota for Mega DSC-2025 are false, state school education commissioner Tamim Ansaria and Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) vice-chairman and managing director S. Bharani said.

Addressing the media at the Secretariat on Monday, Ms. Tamim Ansaria said that each case is investigated based on official records, applicable rules and verification from relevant authorities. The two officials said action would be taken if any certificate was found to be fraudulent or any candidate was found ineligible, while stressing that genuine candidates should not face injustice just because of allegations.

Ms. Tamim Ansaria explained that TET was made compulsory for teachers of classes I to VIII, with the qualifying marks fixed at 60% for OC/EWS candidates, 50% for BC candidates and 40% for SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates. However, separate eligibility for TET was not applicable for Physical Education Teacher, School Assistant (Physical Education), Physical Education Director, PGT and Principal.

She said records showed that several candidates facing charges had secured the required TET marks. Ms. Bharani said complaints regarding sports certificates were also being looked into, adding that the authenticity of certain judo certificates issued by the AP State Judo Association was currently under investigation.

Officials said the certificates issued by the authorized sports bodies were treated as guidelines from the central government. They reiterated that the government’s priority remains transparency, compliance and verification of official records, and that appropriate action will be taken if irregularities are found.
