The Mayiladuthurai district administration has called upon the fishermen of the district who are in Iran to share their details in view of the prevailing situation in the West Asian region.
According to an official statement, several fishermen from Tamil Nadu sought help to leave Iran amid escalating tensions. A list containing details of 595 fishermen stranded in Iran was submitted to the government through the Ministry of Fisheries and Fishermen’s Welfare. Of these, 13 fishermen were from Mayiladuthurai district.
