The office of the main Minister J&K and Raj Bhawan on Tuesday (August 12, 2025) submitted two separate positions to the High Court, which heard litigation (Pil) to Gulmarg, a hilly resort in northern Kashmir, which attracts top tourists to the valley around the year.
The divisional bench, which consists of the chief judge J&K ARUN PALLI and Judge Rajnesh Oswal, was informed by the head of the general advocate Mohsin-ul-showat Qadri that there were two separate answers from the Office of the Chief Minister and Governor of Lieutenant. These were made in court in a sealed cover.
The court heard drank about Gulmarg’s environmental fears and the recent eviction of Nede Hotel in Gulmarg after 137 years of possession. The judiciary and the justice Oswal decided to reopen this case on August 28, 2025.
However, the main minister J&K Omar Abdullah expressed my displeasure over Raj Bhawan’s movement. When he talked to Hindu, Mr. Abdullah said, “Until recently, LG continues to claim that he is responsible only for safety and law and order. He suddenly involved. It is unfortunate that the elected government is trying to be undermined by an unchanged government.”
Approximately 55 hotels out of 59 could go under the hammer due to lack of extending the lease in Gulmarg. The Grants Grant J&K Land-2022, which replaced the GRANTS GRANTS J&K LAND-1960 rules, established LG in 2022 in the case of rental. LG Administration asked the holder of outgoing rentals to evict real estate or otherwise face eviction according to new rules. However, current land holders called these rules “exclusive to J&K, where the first right to rent holders were not granted and revised”.
Many tenants have already attacked new rules in court. During the LG rule, it was decided that the expert committee would acquire all real estate where the lease has ended and there will be auction again. For the first time, a preliminary batter in which they could only apply for land rental were removed. New rules instead of the open offer “Any legally competent according to Section 11 of the Indian Contracting Act of 1872.” In the past, no country in Gulmarg has been awarded to rent every person who was not a permanent inhabitant of the former J&K state.
