Several unidentified persons opened the locked doors of the second ACMM court and mobile court at the premises of the Chief District Court in Ongola at midnight on Thursday. The miscreants also forced open an iron safe box in the courtroom where important documents were kept. However, court staff reported that no missing documents or valuables were found.
Ongole Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) R. Srinivasa Rao told The Hindu that it appears miscreants tried unsuccessfully to steal certain documents from the court premises. As they could not find what they were looking for, they may have fled the scene in a hurry, he said, adding that investigation was on.
