In the district of Gajapati in Odisha there was an incident, where Peon allegedly served his head officer’s bottle of urine instead of drinking water.
The incident occurred on the night of 23 July, when the assistant of the executive engineer Sachin Gouda worked late in the office of rural water and hygiene (RWSS) in Udayagiri.
Gouda filed a police complaint against Peon, Siba Narayan Nayak, and claimed that he had asked Nayak for a bottle of drinking water. But allegedly gave the engineer a bottle that contained urine.
Due to its low lighting and the voltage related to the work, the engineer unknowingly drank it from the bottle. He suspected it was not water, but urine.
Gouda also claimed that shortly after he became restless and was admitted to MKCG Medical College and Berhampura Hospital for treatment.
He also sent a sample of a liquid from a laboratory test that revealed that the ammonia concentration in the sample was higher than usual, indicating serious contamination.
Gajapati’s Chief Police Jatin Kumar Panda said, “On July 23 (Sachin Gouda), he asked Peon to bring him food and water … After drinking water he suspected it was not water, but it was not found in the urine with high ammonia.
“Yesterday reported an incident to the police station. After receiving the report, we noticed a Junior engineer, on the basis of which we also recorded a peon statement. The statement of all others who have information about this incident are recorded … We have not received any specific evidence … We send suspicious urine to the laboratory.”
On the basis of the complaint of Gouda, Nayak arrested Nayak.
According to the relevant sections, the case was registered and the probe was started.
