ODISHA has extended the Internet shutdown in the cuttack for another 24 hours, although the situation in the city – where municipal violence broke out during the submerged Durg Idola processions – remained largely peaceful on Monday (October 6, 2025).
Officials stated that the extension was a preventive measure that prevents any possible outburst or disinformation that could again be tension.
The Cuttack Collector informed the home department that some anti -social elements could use the Internet to circulate undesirable content or rumors aimed at inciting dissatisfaction and disturbance of municipal harmony.
The home department said in its notice that abuse of social networks and fast messages will probably be harmful to peace and tranquility in Cuttack City.
In accordance with this, all Internet services (ISP) providers (ISP) were directed to suspend data services – including social media and platforms for sending messages in the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) and 42 Mauza regions on Monday to Tuesday.
Strict vigil maintained
Government internet and intranet services were kept out of reach of the shutdown. When the police continued the cuttack parts, the cuttack continued on the ground and watched online activity to prevent the spread of legends. A 12 -hour bunch called Vishwa Hindu Parisad could not be enforced due to restrictions on the prohibition of walking. Political and community leaders asked for peace.
