Main Minister Odisha Mohan Charan Maran Majhi on Saturday (October 11, 2025) condemned the alleged rape of the Odia Medicine Gangs in West Bengal.
The second year of Medicine from Jaleswar in Odisha was reportedly unidentified men outside the campus of the Private Medical Faculty in Durgapur in the Paschim Bardhan district in West Bengal, the police said on Saturday (October 11). He is currently undergoing treatment in a nearby hospital.
In a post on the social media, Mr. Majhi said: “The unfortunate incident of rape gangs involving a student Odia in Durgapur in West Bengal is very convicted and painful. I am deeply shocked in hearing this report.”

“In this sensitive matter, I strongly ask the main Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banatyee to take exemplary steps against the accused under the law,” he said.
Odisha CM said, “I pray for a speedy recovery of the victim. I also commanded higher officials to contact the government of West Bengal and take the necessary steps. All possible assistance will be provided to the victim’s family on behalf of Odisha.
When he spoke to them, the victim’s father regretted that there was no help from West Bengal to give justice to his daughter. “If it was the Odisha government, there would be a quick action,” he said.
Mr. Majhi’s comment came only a few days after, Mrs. Banerjee accused BJP of committing municipal violence in a cuttack. She said that Bajrang tried to destroy the municipal harmony in the cuttack.
The statement of West Bengal CM was not built with the BJP government in the state. Prithiviraj Harichandan, Minister of Law Odisha, said Mrs. Banerjee had the habit of gossiping Odisha and her culture.
