Odisha approves projects worth nearly ₹ 76,612 crore; create 50,517 jobs

The High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) on Wednesday (June 17, 2026) cleared 20 major industrial projects with a cumulative investment of ₹ 76,611.86 crore, which have the potential to create 50,517 jobs in nine districts of Odisha.
The approval came at a crucial time when President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are scheduled to visit the state this week to commemorate the completion of two years of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rule.
“Due to progressive policies, robust infrastructure and a strong commitment to ease of doing business, Odisha continues to attract investment in both emerging and core sectors. These projects will contribute significantly to employment generation, industrial diversification and inclusive economic growth,” said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi chairing the 45th HLCA.
According to an Odisha government statement, the projects cover key industries including gem manufacturing, green energy equipment, aerospace and defence, value-added products based on rare earth minerals, pharmaceuticals, machinery and electrical capital goods, chemicals and steel.
The largest investment proposal received by HLCA was from Rashmi Metallurgical Industry Private Limited, which will set up a four million tonne per annum integrated steel plant in Jajpur. The project has the potential to create 11,000 jobs.
Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited has also pledged an investment of ₹ 7,580 crore in one MTPA steel plant at Sambalpur. Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited will set up an ingot and wafer along with solar PV cell manufacturing unit in Ganjam with an investment of ₹10,000 crore, which will create 5,000 job opportunities.
In the renewable energy sector, Rajapuspa Renova LLP has received approval for a pumped hydro plant in Malkangiri. The project involves an investment of ₹5,220 crore.
Kira Diam LLP to set up a diamond manufacturing unit in a laboratory in Khordha district with an estimated investment of ₹7,000 crore. Similar projects have been proposed by Anjali Labtech Limited and Grow Magnificent Private Limited. The combined investment in the sector was ₹9,817.50 crore, which would create 8,100 jobs.
