The Kerala Police Cyber patrol identified several suspicious accounts for sending messages (IM), allegedly created by unidentified persons to facilitate secret purchase and selling obscene content.
The investigation, which is currently in full swing under various units for computer crime, has become strength after a recent arrest by a suspicious youth from the village of Erangalam in the Kozhikode district. The arrest was based on a tip from the Office for Cyber Security Telangana.
According to police sources, the origin of several videos – sparsely shared to insult women and their family members – has already been traced. Squads Cyber Patrol Squad from various countries also cooperate on collecting and exchange of digital evidence.
“The youth arrested from Kozhikode was reportedly involved in trading with inappropriate videos through a telegram. His bank account data provided fundamental evidence and revealed suspicious financial transactions related to crime,” the police officer involved in the investigation said. He added that more people related to illegal operations will probably be identified soon.
Cyber officers from Kozhikode and rural units said that the supervision of social media across the state was intensified in response to the growing complaints of victims. They also revealed that several social media accounts, created and operated by unknown persons based in foreign countries, have recently been identified for legal steps and rapid deactivation.
