
NYC mayoral election: Voting is underway in New York City to choose the next mayor to lead the nation’s largest city, as voters react to Donald Trump’s second presidency for the first time in elections across America.
who is in the fight
Zohran Mamdani, who won the Democratic primary earlier this year, faces former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who is running as an independent, and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa.
When will we know the results?
According to the New York City Board of Elections, 734,317 early votes were cast over the past nine days.
— Polls are open in New York from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time.
— Soon after the vote, the first results will begin to arrive.
— In the 2021 mayoral election, Eric Adams was declared the winner less than 20 minutes after the polls closed.
— In June, during the Democratic primary, preliminary voting results were released almost immediately at 9 p.m.
— but CBS said it could take hours, but if the race is close, it could take days to determine a winner.
— Fox5 reported that according to the Board of Elections, preliminary vote totals could be released by 10 p.m.

Does Zohram lead Mamdani?
New York voters should elect Mamdani as mayor. Polls show Zohran Mamdani leading Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa.
A poll conducted by Marist in late October found Mamdani leading Cuomo by 16 points among likely voters, including those who are undecided but leaning toward the candidate. Sliwa has the support of 16% of likely voters and 3% are undecided.
Most likely voters have either a very favorable (36%) or somewhat favorable (21%) opinion of Mamdani. Almost four in ten have either a very unfavorable (28%) or somewhat unfavorable (9%) impression of Mamdani, the survey found.
According to the RealClearPolitics average, Zohran Mamdani leads with 45.8% support.

Will Mamdani make history?
After casting his vote and wearing an “I Voted” sticker, Mamdani said: “We are on the verge of making history in our city. On the verge of saying goodbye to the politics of the past,” he said.
When asked about Trump’s remark that he plans to cut federal funds to New York City, Mamdani said he will not be intimidated by the president. I will not be intimidated by anyone because my job here is to serve the people of the city.

A victory for Zohran Mamdani would give New York City its first Muslim mayor and the youngest leader in generations.
Mamdani identifies as a democratic socialist and supports radical change to address economic inequality.
Trump tells New York Jews not to vote Mamdani for mayor
Trump called Zohran Mamdani a “Jew-hater” who Jews should not vote for.
“Any Jew who votes for Zohran Mamdani, a proven and self-confessed JEW-HATER, is stupid!!!” Trump posted it on his social network.
