The number of ration cards (food safety) in Telangana exceeded One Crore and reached 1.01 Crore this month. The number of people registered for ration cards is 3.25 crore. Currently, rice and wheat are distributed every month.
On Tuesday (September 16) in the afternoon there is a total of 1,01,27 655 ration cards in the state and the number of recipients is 3.25,11 157. Of the total cards, the highest number of ration cards in three city districts – Hyderabad (7,19 657), Rangareddy (6,20 721) and Medchal Malkajgiri (5.90 848).
The Chief Secretary of the DS Chauhan Civilian Delivery Department said this month was exceeded by the brand of one crore. Applicants stated that in addition to the grain, the card helps them to apply for other schemes, including pensions.
Venkatanarayana Motkuri, Associate Professor, Center for Economic and Social Studies (CESS), Hyderabad, said that because the rations are associated with other government programs such as Aarogyasri Health Scheme, there is an increase in number.
“Even if someone is not interested in the benefits of food security card, he would ask if the health system wanted. In addition, the nuclear family system contributes to more people who are applying for a card. If the family was five with parents and three children holding one card could join three other cards after children joined and married.
Sister Lissy Joseph, chairwoman, Welfare Trust national staff, said the card provides much -needed financial relief to free women (unmarried, widows, divorced or separate) that work as domestic workers, sweepers, agricultural work, construction work and other sectors. They have low earnings. If women and their dependent people live in a rented house, the grains provided in this system help. She said that when they develop health problems, the Aarogyasri system, connected with the card, provides them with some financial relief.
