NTPC Simhadri wins award for environmental excellence

NTPC Simhadri received the Green Enviro Environment Excellence Award-2026 in the Platinum category at the 2nd Annual Green Enviro Award & Summit 2026 held in Guwahati on Friday.

According to NTPC Simhadri, the award recognizes the thermal power plant’s efforts towards environmental protection and sustainable development through the adoption of advanced environmental management practices.

The award was received by Surarapu Harikrishna, Deputy General Manager, on behalf of NTPC Simhadri.

The station has been recognized for implementing a number of environmental initiatives, including the installation of flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) systems to reduce emissions, the use of fly ash and gypsum, and water and energy conservation measures.

Other initiatives cited include scientific waste management practices, renewable energy promotion, reforestation programs and environmental education activities.
