They also raised slogans like “chaatro pe attyachar bandh karo” (stop the oppression of students), amid heavy barricades and police presence outside Shstri Bhawan.
The NEET-UG examination was held on May 3, after which allegations of paper leak surfaced, prompting an investigation by the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) and the CBI.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 and said that the examination will be conducted again on dates to be announced separately.
In a statement, the NTA said the decision was taken with the approval of the Government of India to maintain transparency and maintain confidence in the national examination system.
The NSUI said that the cancellation of the examination itself proves that there were major irregularities and serious malpractices in the NEET examination process.
The NSUI also accused the central government of repeatedly failing to protect the future of millions of hardworking students.
“Today’s decision to scrap NEET is a victory for student power and the voice of thousands of aspirants across the country. NSUI was among the first organizations to raise awareness on the issue and demand justice for students,” NSUI National President Vinod Jakhar said.
“If the exam system was fair, the government would not have been forced to cancel the exam and order a CBI probe. This clearly exposes the failure of the Education Department and NTA,” he added.
Mr. Jhakar further demanded the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and called for a complete ban on the NTA, saying the agency has repeatedly failed to conduct credible examinations.
The NSUI said that repeated controversies surrounding NEET have completely destroyed students’ confidence in the examination system and warned that the movement for fairness and accountability in education will continue until strict action is taken against all those involved in the scam.
