NSS conducts anti-drug campaign in Kozhikode

As part of NSS Day, National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers organized an anti-drug awareness program at Mananchira Square here on Thursday (September 24, 2026) with the participation of 1,700 members.

The volunteers appeared at the event as “Toofan Commandos” in solidarity with the state government’s “Toofan” anti-drug campaign. The district level program was part of a series of awareness activities organized at the district headquarters across Kerala under the state cell of the NSS.

The program was jointly organized by NSS Calicut University and District Social Justice Office. Volunteers from NPS Calicut University, NPS Higher Secondary, Vocational Higher Secondary Education, NSS Technical Cell and Institute of Human Resource Development participated.

Activities organized as part of the campaign included human chain, anti-drug pledge, theme song release, balloon release with anti-drug messages and cultural programmes. District panchayat president Mili Mohan inaugurated the programme. Assistant Collector Malavika G. Nair presided. Deputy Commissioner of Police Binu Kumar made the statement “Toofan Commando”.

Calicut University NSS Program Coordinator Risha Karally provided volunteers with the Toofan Anti-Drug Pledge. Program Coordinator Fazil Ahamed, District Social Justice Officer M. Anju Mohan, Higher Secondary Regional Convener S. Sreejith, District Higher Secondary Convener MK Faisal, VHSE District Coordinator AP Mahaboobali and Technical Cell Convener M. Nikhil spoke. 75 program officers from schools and colleges in the district were present to coordinate the event.
