The Grand Slam Grand Slam champion convened his best on Court Philippe-Chamrier, but it wasn’t enough against Sinner, who released a flawless performance on the big scene. Djokovic lost a hard attacked match In direct sets-4-6, 5-7, 6-7 (3) after 3 hours and 16 minutes of high-intensity tennis.
At the end of the exhausting meeting, Djokovic seemed emotional. Before he went out of court, the Serb laid his kitbag and waved to the crowd and thanked them for their support. In a poignant gesture, he bent down and touched Paris’s clay, perhaps indicating that it could be his last match in Roland Garros.
He left the fans for a moment until Djokovic addressed a gesture at his press conference after the match. The triple French Open champion admitted that he did not have to return to Paris next year.
“It could have been the last match I’ve ever played, I don’t know. That’s why it was a bit emotional at the end,” he said.

“Do I want to play on? Yes, yes. But will I be able to return in 12 months?
Wimbledon, Open in Djokovic’s plans
Djokovic did not receive the title Grand Slam since his triumph in New York in 2023. Last year he reached the final of Wimbledon, where he lost with Carlos Alcaz. Later he defeated Spain at the Paris Olympics to win gold in Philippe-Chamrier.
Much expected that Djokovic would hit the highest form after the Olympics, but the Serb has since fought with fitness and form. In recent memory he endured one of his most difficult clay seasons and in the second round he fell on the events of Monte Carlo and Madrid Masters 1000. Just before Roland Garros he managed to win the title ATP 250 in Geneva.
When he released a tactical championship class, Vintage Djokovic was flashed to beat Alexander Zverev in four sets in the quarterfinals. In the end, however, he was abolished in the semifinals by a sharp clinical exposure to Sinner.
Djokovic is still chasing a record 25.
He confirmed that he intends to play Wimbledon next month and the US Open at the end of this year, although his plans outside the current season remain unclear. He also mentioned the opportunity to return to Australia, where he won 10 of his 24 main titles.
“These tournaments are the priorities of my schedule,” Djokovic said.
“Wimbledon and the USA open. Yes, they are in plans. That’s all I can say so far. I feel I want to play the two, surely. I’m not so sure for others.”
“Wimbledon has always been my favorite childhood. I will do everything in my power to prepare.
My best chances can be in Wimbledon or perhaps in Australia, ”he added.
Djokovic is now the last remaining member of The Big Three, who has redefined the tennis of men over the last two decades. Roger Federer, the twenty -time Grand Slam winner, retired in 2022, while Rafael Nadal, who performed 22 large companies last year, withdrew from a professional tennis.
