The day before the announcement of the census is published in the official Bulletin, the Minister of the Interior of the Union Amit Shah reviewed the preparation for exercise on Sunday (June 15, 2025).
The Ministry of the Interior (MHA) stated that the notification of the census of the people will be published in the official June June 2025.
Approximately 34 lamps and supervisors and 1.3 census officers would be deployed for exercises to be performed in two phases and will be closed within 1 March 2027.
MHA said that the census would be carried out through digital resources using mobile applications, where people would also be available to provide self -harm.
“Very strict data security measures would be maintained to ensure data security at the time of collection, transmission and storage,” he said.
The census would be carried out in two phases-operation of home extract (HLO), where the conditions, assets and equipment of each household and the population (PE) will be collected to capture a demographic, socio-economic, cultural and other details of each person in each household. When census census, caste enumerations would also be made, MHA said.
At the revision meeting, the Minister of the Interior of the Union Govind Mohan, the General Registrar of India (RGI) and the Commissioner of the Census Mritunjay Kumar Narayan and other higher officials, and other higher officials.
On June 4, MHA announced the commencement of the census and added that it would have a reference date 12:00 on March 1, 2027.
According to the constitutional mandate, the first census after 2026 can be used as the basis for repainting the Lok Sabha constituency. Other general elections are expected to take place in 2029.
The last census took place in 2011 and the subsequent exercise, which is to be held in 2021, was delayed for an indefinite period, initially because of the Covid-19 pandemia. On April 30, the Union Cabinet decided to include a list of caste as part of the other census.
