Notification lists are published on Telangana CEO website but information about some stalls is missing

The list of electors who have issued notices of anomalies or logical discrepancies found during the Special Intensive Review (SIR) exercise has been uploaded on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana. However, details of several polling stations are yet to be released.

To access the list, voters have to visit the website and click on the button “List of persons to whom notices have been issued”. Then they have to select their constituency and assembly constituency from the drop down menus and click on ‘Get Polling Stations’. After selecting the relevant polling station, they must click on “View” in the third column and enter the verification code shown in the pop-up window.

The list then shows the names of voters who have been issued notices, along with their EPIC numbers, age, gender and “reason for discrepancy”. However, in some cases, voters said the reason for the notice was not given.

“I searched for my name but I didn’t find the reason for notification,” said Anam Fatima (name changed), a voter who works as an educationist. “But coincidentally on the same day, a booth-level officer came and gave me a notice. There was a spelling problem,” she said.

Activists and researchers who analyzed the data said that while the notification lists for most constituencies had been uploaded, details regarding certain polling stations were still missing.

SABAR, which analyzes SIR data from several states, pointed out that details of several polling stations in the Charminar Assembly constituency were not available. A similar loophole was found in several booths in Jakutpura constituency.

“Though it may take some time to upload the data, it is important to have complete data for the sake of transparency. The future of several voters is at stake,” Sabir Ahamed, senior researcher at SABAR Institute, told The Hindu.

Booth-level agents also raised the issue and claimed that the notification lists for more than 50 booths in the Charminar Assembly constituency are yet to be updated.
