Nothing introduced a new app called Nothing Community Widgets. As the name suggests, it has widgets like games and tools, and no smartphone is developed with its enthusiastic user base. One of the first arrivals on the app is Snake Game, paying tribute to the classic snake experience on Nokia phones. It is specifically used for smartphones without them, such as the Nothing Phone 2a Plus and the Nothing Phone 2.
According to British smartphone maker, the idea for Snake Widgets was proposed in January by community member Rahul Janardhanan. Instead of developing it in-house, the brand is engaged with Thomas Legendre, a community developer who previously worked at Ear (Web) and Simone Glyph Game.
Snake Games can be placed on the home screen like any other widget. Similar to the retro Nokia game, the goal is to eat red dots to make the snake longer in size while avoiding collisions with itself. Each point is added one point and its speed increases. If the snake collides with the body, the game ends. However, the controls are very different. Instead of using directional keyboard buttons on Nokia phones, users can control the snake with swipe gestures.
There is nothing to say to be designed to bundle quality widgets created by the community with its community widget app, which is hosted on the Google Play Store. There is no community member who can share concepts with companies, and their software team will determine whether it can be turned into a widget.
This move is part of the company’s ambition to work with the community. It is worth noting that the brand recently launched the Nothing Phone 2A Plus Community Edition, which brought the climax of the community edition project to begin in March this year. It is co-developed with Nothing Community at all stages – from hardware design, wallpaper design to packaging design and marketing campaigns. The smartphone has a pitch-black design with green phosphorescent paint on the back.
