Congress MP and former Chief Minister of Panjab Charanjit Singh Channi triggered a new controversy on Friday after questioning surgical strikes carried out after a terrorist attack in Pulwam in 2019.
“Until the date I did not find out where the (surgical) strikes occurred where men were killed at the time and where it happened in Pakistan. If someone in our country drops a bomb, people don’t know?” Channi asked.
The Congress Member also added: “He claims that they had made surgical strikes against Pakistan, but nothing happened. There was no surgical strike. No one learned.”
Asked if he was looking for evidence of these strikes, he said, “I always demanded it.”
The Congress MP made a note when interviewing a press conference after the Congress Committee (CWC).
Channi also requires the government to tell people they are (perpetrators of the terrorist attack of Pahalgam) and punish them.
“We demand that the government take steps and the whole country is waiting to witness what steps to take against Pakistan,” said the former chief minister and responded to the question.
“People are waiting for a 56 -inch chest about when it will act. We require the government to act quickly and provide results,” he added.
“No evidence is needed”
But Channi later returned and said that no evidence was needed for surgical strikes.
“I have already said that the congress party is standing in this class of sorrow. If the government disrupts their (Pakistani) water supply, air or anything that does, we stand like a rock with it,” he said.
“You talked about surgical strokes. We are not asking for evidence and no evidence has been requested … Today, the question is that we want justice for the families of victims and the country. We are standing with the government,” he said.
BJP attacks Channi
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) killed a Congress deputy over his remarks.
