Former captain Rashid Latif on Pakistan boycotting India T20 World Cup match
The ICC confirmed that the T20 World Cup would go ahead as planned, with Bangladesh’s matches to be held in India, and later announced Scotland as a replacement team after Bangladesh refused to participate as per the published plan.Questioning Pakistan’s priorities, Harbhajan added: “You can say you support Bangladesh, but what did you think of the people in your country who want the India-Pakistan match to take place? When the ICC vote took place on Bangladesh’s request, it was rejected by a margin of 14-2. Australia, England, South Africa and several other countries were part of that fight, and why are you needlessly picking on it?”

The former off-spinner also highlighted Pakistan’s double standard, mentioning revenue-based matches despite political tensions. “Right, if you don’t want to come then don’t. India aren’t going to your country either – fair enough. But this match was at a neutral venue. A while ago, during the Asian Cup, the match was still held because it was about revenue. You weren’t willing to give it up.”Harbhajan ended with a stark warning: “It is possible that you have been sanctioned and it is also possible that you may not get an opportunity to host any ICC tournament in future. Let’s see if you really have the guts to stand by your decision or if it was just a shot in the dark.”
