All main rivers in North Andhra, including Vamsadhar, Nagavali and Jhanjavati, have gained significant influx with continuous precipitation in their basin along the border of Andhra Pradesh-Odisha and part of the districts of SRIKAKULM and Vizianagaram.
Gotta Barrage, built on the Vamsadhara River, received 2,910 cuses of water, which was immediately released for providing water for agriculture in the region. The Nagavali River, which has almost dried up in the last two months, has witnessed a huge inflow from the bridge on the river in Sricakulam City. Reservoir Madduvallas received a tide of 2,514 CUSECS with 2,322 cuses released in favor of agricultural regions in Vangar, Rajam, Cheepurupalli and other areas. Meanwhile, the district collector BR Ambedkar ordered officials to stay in high readiness, because the Indian meteorological department (IMD) predicts heavy rains in the next few days.
He said, “All the Mandal Officers should remain in their respective jurisdiction to follow the rain situation and respond quickly to any emergencies. He emphasized the need for higher preventive measures in Bhogapuram and Pusapati Rega Mandals because these mandates swear near the coast.
