International Airport Noida (NIA), the new Aviation Center at Greenfield in Jawar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, is to start operation by the end of this year, PTI informed.
The project, built as part of the model of the public and private sector partnership with Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, will become the second international facility of NCR after Delhi.
It is located around 75 km from the capital of the National Capital in Nový Delhi and is expected to appear as a key node in the field of air connectivity and logistics in the region, the report said.
When will they take off flights?
The Minister of Civil Aviation to Rammohan Naid told the press agency that the airport would be inaugurated on 30 October this year, with flight operations will then begin over the next 45 days. From now on, the airport will have 10 routes.
The main minister UTTAR Pradesh Yogi Adityanath also repeated commercial flight operations of the airport to start by the end of 2025.
The project, which was launched in 2019 and went through the Covid-19 pandemies, was initially scheduled to start operations in September 2024, which was charged as the largest airport in India before 2050.
Progress in the development of airport
The airport develops in four phases and has so far completed the key air infrastructure for phase 1, including one track and one passenger terminal with a capacity for processing 12 million passengers every year. Upon completion, 70 million passengers will be able to handle each year.
What will be next?
The last obstacle to the start of operation is the receipt of the Aerodrome license from the General Directorate for Civil Aviation (DGCA). The airport currently operates a large program of operational readiness and airport transfer (orat) to ensure smooth and safe start.
Once the license is awarded the airport, this year’s operation will begin in close coordination with airlines and other parties involved.
The project has already created an important job, with nearly 9,000 workers currently working on the spot and it is expected that thousands of other jobs will appear in the near future because construction proceeds across other phases.
