Noah Lyles is set to return to Diamond League. Lyles, who defeated Kishane Thompson by a thousandth of a second in the 100m final Olympics, is on Saturday 16th August to restore his rivalry in Silesia. However, the mood of the competition is slightly different this time. The story is not among the top two Olympic 2024, but between two US athletes, who began to attract attention for the small disputes they created with each other.
What is history, do you ask? Noah Lyles and Kenny Bednarek raced against each other on August 4 at the US Athletics Championship met in Eugene. At the end of the race, when Lyles passed Bednar from behind, he looked left and stared down athletes and ridiculed Bednarek as he passed him. Bednarek did not like Lyles’ attitude and at the end of the race he gave him a little pushed him.
When the duo renewed its rivalry in the Diamond League Slemesia, the legendary Mondo Duplantis took the cheeky dig in Lyles during a pre -press conference and asked him about the incident.
“May I ask?” Duplantis said at the end of a multi-sports press conference in Poland, along with Lyles, but not Bednarek, on the eve of Sprinters renewing their rivalry at 100 on the Diamond League circuit.
“I want to ask Noe as if he was looking down and pushing it,” said Duplantis, smiling and looking straight along the line to Lyles, “because it (exhausting) was a pretty crazy game.”
Lyles repeated the answer he had given 4 August in Eugene, Oregon, after beef seemed to drive the beef after the race with a long -time teammate Bednarek next month in Tokyo before the World Championships.
“As Coach said,” No comment, “Lyles replied to laughter in the room.
Duplantis returned to another: “Enough, fair enough.
Lyles was asked to ask his own question duplantis. He suggested that he do not set another world record on Saturday so that he can win the ring awarded by Meet organizers for the best performance.
“No comment, no comment,” the Swedish star born in the US came back, to another laughter.
Duplantis set his 13th world record in Hungary and raised the bar to 6.29 meters. A year ago he cleaned 6.26 in Poland to add a single centimeter to a record brand that won the Olympic gold in Paris last August.
On Saturday, the track is the main event as the main event of men, although Bednarek has since said he had coped with Lyles in a long conversation.
It will be the first 100 between Lyles and Kishane Thompson from Paris when the American took gold by five thousandths of Jamaican because both were timed in 9.79 seconds.
Thompson starts on Saturday as the fastest man in the world this year – 9.75 in June in Kingston.
Bednarek is on the second list of the season at 9.79, which won the victory of the American national title, which skipped Lyles, who has automatic access to Tokyo as a defending champion since 2023.
“Basically, you have the Olympic finals maybe missing two people and add some just as fast,” said Lyles, whose season is the best 10 apartment in London last month. “It will be good, no matter that.”
“Of course,” he said, “Kishane is still improving.”
