The Noah Lyles Olympic Champion was Dethronized on Sunday 14th September as a world champion.
Lyles was given a bronze medal at the 2025 athletics World Championship in Tokyo. He finished third behind the Jamaican oblique Seville with a time of 9.89 seconds.
Seville had a time of 9.77 seconds and his colleague countryman Kishane Thompson earned a silver with a time of 9.82 seconds.
There was 2025 battle for Lyles. Due to the injury and the hasty attempt to prepare for the race, he arrived in Tokyo with two goals-to take his title and to prove that his entire transformation-the new racial approach, a new training plan, new mental thinking-he was results.
A new approach but a well -known result for Noah Lyles
In the finals he showed that it was his old self, the one who won gold at the Paris Olympics – remained competitive in the first half of the race. However, he seemed to have behaved in the last 20 meters and could not catch up with the pace of Seville and Thompson.
“You always want gold, but it was a crazy season,” Lyles said after the race. “Injuries, the hurry of the season to try to get as many races as possible, hurried honestly, we did the best we could ever do.”
He said that even though it was not a medal he dreamed of, it was another best. “It was the best race of the year for me. We had to fight every step of the journey and it is good to come out with the medal,” he said, showing a lot of durability.
Lyles bronze means perseverance, but also shows that the reinvention he has focused is not complete. His ambition to be the best in the world is clear, but this time the Jamaican duo stopped him.
While his government as a 100m champion at the World Meeting ended, Lyles will see another 200 meter event with regard to the defense of his crown.
