Olympic champions Noah Lyles and Julien Alfred showed their login data commanding victory in the Diamond League final in Zurich on Thursday, just two weeks before the World Championship in Tokyo.
Lyles, an American star Sprint, became the first athlete to capture six final Diamond League titles after detaining Botswana Letsile Tebogo in a dramatic 200m. The triple world champion stepped out of the bend, but drove home to stop the clock in 19.74 seconds, a slender 0.02 forward.
“Six in a row, the most in the track!” Lyles said. “It’s pretty nice to have it.
Tebogo, who stunned Lyles in Paris to deny him the Olympic gold, suggested that the American had been interested in more measured approach from this defeat.
“You have to let your feet talk,” Tebogo said. “I think Lyles is humble now. He wins today, but he can lose tomorrow. He didn’t speak so much from Paris.”
In 100 m women, Alfred St Lucia returned from an injury with a strong time in 10.76 in her first trip for more than a month. The Olympic champion showed no signs of rust, finished from Jamaica Tia Clayton (10,84) and British Diny Asher-Smith (10,94).
“I’m moving around my injuries,” Alfred said. “It’s my first race back in five weeks, so it’s one step forward. I feel fitter and mentally stronger than before in the season and I want to add more gold to my collection.”
Elsewhere, Germany Julian Weber created two throws Over 91 meters to win a male spear and finish more than six meters without the Olympic and world champion Neera Chopra.
American Christian Coleman took men 100 meters in 9.97, picked South African Akani Simbine (9,98) and Jamaican Acke Blake (9,99). “This victory feels amazing. Let’s continue to win,” Coleman said with his monuments to Tokyo.
Brittany Brown from the United States claimed that the women’s 200 MV of the best 22.13 season, with Asher-Smith (22.18) second and Marie-Jos Ta Lou-Smith (22,31) third.
Norwegian Karsten Warholm scored a record of 46.70 in obstacles of 46.70 men, while the Dutch star femke Bol reduced Zurich’s brand to 52.18 in a women’s event.
The Dutch Niels Laros view set a national record of 3: 29,20 to win 1500 meters of men, while the Emmanuel Wanyonyi Olympic Champion from Kenya from Britain Max Burgin and Marco Arop secured 800 m men.
