No T20 World Cup, no problem. Bangladesh release their own domestic T20 cup

February 1, 2026

Following on from ICC decision to replace Bangladesh with Scotland in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Bangladesh Cricket Board has moved quickly to unveil a new domestic competition in this window, the ODOMMO Bangladesh T20 Cup 2026. ODOMMO, which means ‘Indomitable’ in Bangla, will be held from February 5 to 9 and will feature three teams, Dhumketu XI, Durbar XI and Duronto XI, with the tournament designed to bring the country’s top white-ball talent under one roof during global event windows.

Bangladesh T20I captain Litton Kumar Das will lead the Dhumket XI, Najmul Hossain Shanto has been named the Durbar XI captain while Akbar Ali will captain the Duront XI. The tournament follows BCB’s decision not to travel to India for the T20 World Cup, a call which reportedly did not go down well with several players, including Litton, and ultimately led to Scotland replacing Bangladesh in the competition.

BCB insists that the ODOMMO Bangladesh T20 Cup will be a competitive event rather than a token replacement. According to the board, the tournament will carry total prize money and player fees worth Tk 2.5 million, approximately Rs 1.87 million.

“We will be giving match fees along with other things. We expect to announce a decent prize money and all these efforts are being made to make the tournament competitive,” a BCB official told Cricbuzz.

In an official statement, the board said: “Three teams will participate in this exciting competition with prize money and fees worth Taka 2.5 million.” Another official added that measures were being taken to ensure that the tournament did not turn into a friendly affair.

“We will be giving match fees along with other things. We expect to announce a good amount as prize money and all these efforts are being made to make the tournament competitive,” the official reiterated.

The competition will also introduce the Impact Player rule, adding a strategic element to matches. The three group stage matches are scheduled for February 5, 6 and 7, with the final being played on February 9. Each day of play will begin with a cultural program at 4:00 PM followed by a cricket event at 6:00 PM.

As part of the build-up, BCB plans to hold a fitness camp at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium from Sunday, February 1, ahead of the tournament.

The coaching staff of the teams is also confirmed. Mohammad Salahuddin will serve as the head coach of Dhumket XI assisted by Mohammad Ashraful. Mizanur Rahman Babul has been appointed as the head coach of Durbar XI, with Tushar Imran as his assistant. Hannan Sarkar will lead the Duront XI coaching staff, with Rajil Saleh working as an assistant coach.

BCB has also announced fan-friendly ticket prices for the tournament. East Gallery tickets will cost BDT 100 while North and South Gallery tickets will cost BDT 200. Club House tickets have been set at BDT 500, Grand Stand tickets are available at BDT 1,000.
