While refusing to stay its March 12 order disqualifying Vellappally Natesan and others from holding posts in the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yoga (SNDP), the Kerala High Court on Thursday passed an interim order governing the status quo until a new list of directors is drawn up.
This came after the state government submitted to the court that the list of new directors for the positions they were holding was yet to be finalised. Thursday’s order comes after Mr. Natesan, who was Yogam’s general secretary, and Tushar Vellappally, the vice-president, approached the court challenging the order disqualifying them from holding office in the organization.
The Supreme Court disqualified them from these posts after finding that they had acted in violation of the Companies Act, 2013 by not submitting audited accounts to Yogam for three consecutive years.
The court also further ordered the appointment of a new board of trustees in Yogam on the basis of applications filed by the late literary critic MK Sanoo and others, all members of the organization, alleging that they had not submitted the financial statements of Yogam for three consecutive years. They also challenged the order of the IG (Registration) allowing the two officials and others to continue in their functions despite the alleged non-submission of the statement.
The matter was posted for hearing on Monday.
