Air India has completed the preventive inspection of the locking mechanism for fuel control (FCS) on its Boeing 787 aircraft fleet and found no problems, said a airline official on Wednesday, on Wednesday (July 17, PTI reported.
“At the weekend, our engineering team launched a preventive inspection on a lockable fuel switch (FCS) on all of our Boeing 787 aircraft. The inspection was completed and no problems were found,” the official said, quoting internal reports shared with Air India pilots.
A critical moment in the captured cockpit
According to the 15 -page AAIB report, the fuel supply for both engines was cut off in one second, shortly after take -off. This caused an immediate loss of altitude, which led to a fatal accident.
“In the voice recording of the cockpit, one of the pilots to ask the other, why did he cut off? The second pilot replied that he did not do that,” the report said.
Throttle control modules have already replaced
The Air India official added that the throttle control module (TCM)-is part of the FCS-Byl already replaced on all Boeing 787-8 aircraft operated by airlines according to the maintenance plan.
What makes fuel switch
The fuel control switch regulates the fuel flow into the aircraft engines and plays a decisive role in safe take -off and operations. Any unintended movement of the switch – especially from “running” to “marginal” – can immediately turn off the engine power.
FAA mentioned, but no action was recommended
The AAIB report also referred to a special bulletin for information about flight capacity (SAIB) from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), but did not issue any specific recommendations or compulsory corrective measures.
Airline urges vigilance among pilots
The airline urged pilots to stay on the emergency room and report any potential errors in the technical diary within their standard defect reporting system.
