
Deputy Commissioner Dharwad Divya Prabhu Grj said on Saturday that under no circumstances will the selling Ganesha idols made of plaster from Paris (POP) and those who violate the order will not be allowed in the district.
She stated that she chaired a working group meeting on the ban on Pop Ganesha Idola to prevent water pollution in Dharwad.
The Commissioner’s representative said that one should not pose a threat to the environment on behalf of the devotion. “Our worship should not become a curse for the next generation. Ganesha idol sellers should only sell ecological clay idols,” she said.
It emphasized the need for strict monitoring of checkpoints to prevent pop idols from entering the district, and ordered officials to confiscate the pop and vehicle used for transport. Police officers showing neglect in seizure of pop idols would have to face disciplinary measures, warned.
The Commissioner Representative stated that the Karnataka High Court issued clear instructions prohibiting the use of pop ganesh idols. Pop contained toxic chemicals that would pollute water formations threatening human and water life, she added.

Mrs. Divya said there was a campaign to raise awareness to ensure that pop idols were not sold or used to install the public. However, if the idols of Pop Ganesha were observed, which were sold in any village, city or in the city of the district, citizens should alert officials and set up aid centers for the purpose, she said.
District and Taluk at the level of levels that were created to limit the transport, storage and sale of pop ganesh idols should be active in limiting the threat, she said.
When selling crackers, she said that this would only be allowed at the designated locations and have already been submitted by various dealers. The Commissioner’s representative emphasized the need to create awareness of the installation of ecological clay idols. They should also be encouraged to immerse them in a bucket of water and re -use the clay to plant rates, she said.
