The General Directorate for Civil Aviation (DGCA) said on Tuesday that the Aviation Regulator reviewed Air India and Air India Express after a recent aircraft accident in Ahmedabad and added that the supervision of Boeing 787 aircraft did not deduce any major security concerns.
“Air India B787 and related maintenance systems that were in line with existing safety standards,” DGCA said.
However, the air guard dog stated that it has raised concerns about recent maintenance -related problems at Air India and directs the airline to strengthen the coordination between them.
DGCA said Air India canceled 66 flights to be operated with the Boeing 787 between June 12 and June 17 after the Ahmedabad tragedy.
What DGCA recommended Air India
On the maintenance of the aircraft
– The airline was recommended to strengthen internal coordination across engineering, operation, ground units and ensure the availability of corresponding spare parts to alleviate passengers delayed from these questions and strictly compliance.
Early roads in the middle of air space closure
– Air India and Air India Express have been asked to ensure early communication with passengers and crew and accepted alternative routing strategies to minimize disruption. The impact of the recent closure of the airspace, especially in the Iranian air space, was reviewed.
Operating coordination
– The regulator recommended implementation of a more systematic mechanism of reporting defects in real time to ensure that operating and critical departments in safe updates receive timely updates. It is expected to improve overall decision -making and reduce the consequences.
Information and facilitate passengers
– DGCA said that Air India was reminded of its obligations within the relevant requirements for civil aviation, Section 3 of the IV & V part, informing passengers sufficiently in advance of delay and cancellation.
The regulator also emphasized the effective facilitation of passengers and timely dissemination of information through all available channels to Air India.
B787 Supervision of Fleet
– The recent supervision of the Boeing 787 Air India has not revealed any major security concerns, DGCA confirmed. It has been found that the aircraft and related maintenance systems are in line with existing safety standards.
Increased Fleet Fleet Air India B787-8/9
-The “increased safety” was made on the entire Flotile Air India B787-8/9, which contained 33 aircraft, DGCA said.
The aerial guard dog said that 4 aircraft B787-8/9 are currently undergoing the main inspections in various MRO devices.
From 15:00 on June 17, 2025, a total of 24 aircraft successfully completed the required check, DGCA noted.
Flight Data with Wide Body
-DGCA has also reviewed the recent operational data for the Air India’s wide body operation, with special attention to the Boeing 787 fleet. During the review, 66 flights of Air India B787 were canceled from 12 June to June 17th. In five days, the airline canceled a total of 83 flights.
