The winner of the Booker BANU International Mushtaq said on Monday that people did not understand Kannada and Kannadigas.
On Monday, she spoke of Felicitation organized by the Karnataka in Vishan Judah, said they often asked about the national media media why there was “intolerance” to other languages in Karnataka.
“And I tell them … Your understanding of Cannada is incorrect. There is no language as tolerant as Cannada. It’s a language that has given many others to the platform,” she said. The writer also said that Kannada is holding a rare decoration of the eight Jnanith Awards and One Booker.
£ 10 Lakh rewards
In the position of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, she announced a cash reward for 10 lakh for Mrs. Mushtaq and translator of her working heart lamp Deep Bhasthi. He also said that the government would support the translation of its further works from Cannada into other languages.
He noted that Mrs. Mushtaq had the courage to write against the superstition and as the voice of Muslim women. Mr. Siddarahaiah said that literature has the power to build bridges in society, and writers should try to unify people rather than to create divisions, he added.
On this occasion, the Deputy Minister of DK Shivakumar, Mrs. Mushtauq and Mrs. Bhasthi described as the Global Ambassador Kannada, who set fire to the “Kannada lamp” on the world scene by winning the Booker Award.
