
Handshakes Exercise between Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistani guardians will remain suspended when the ceremony on Tuesdays continued on Tuesday on a common control post of the Pandjab border, Attari, after temporary suspension due to Sindoor operation.
BSF on May 8 stopped public entry for this event with regard to “public security” after India destroyed nine terrorist foundations in Pakistan and Pakistanian Kashmir under the Sindoor operation, retaliation of the military offensive against the attack of Pahalgam of 22 April.
Every evening, the Indian flag is reduced by BSF units in synchronization with Pakistani guardians on common control columns in Attari (Amritsar district) opposite Pakistani Wagah, Hussainiwala in the Ferozpur district via Ganda Singh Wala and Sadki in Fazilka.
Key changes included the suspension of the symbolic handshake between the Indian commander of the guard and their Pakistani counterpart.
Previously, the gates were opened on the border and the show was in the form of a common drill.
The gate will now remain during the show. There is also no change in sweets or gifts on every occasion, the PTI quotes reported.
In April, BSF announced that during the ceremony of retreating in Attari, Hussainiwal and Sadki in Pandjab, he would reduce the ceremonial display.
In the post on X, BSF said: “As a result of a recent tragic attack in Pahalgam, a calibrated decision was taken to make a retreat in Attari, Hussaainiwal and Sadki in Pandjab during the ceremony during the ceremony.”
