No final decision on PM SHRI: Minister

The Cabinet sub-committee formed to study matters related to the implementation of the PM SHRI (Prime Minister’s School for the Rise of India) program in Kerala held its second meeting here on Wednesday.

“No final decision has been taken. We are discussing various aspects of the scheme. The sub-committee has a month to submit its report,” General Education Minister N. Samsudheen said.

The meeting attended by Mr. Samsudheen, Higher Education Minister Roji M. John, Tourism Minister PC Vishnunadh and Excise Minister M. Liju was seen by the ministers who studied the guidelines of the scheme to present their views on it.

Due to lack of time, it has been decided to schedule another meeting of the sub-committee soon, it is learnt.

The sub-committee was entrusted with the task of preparing a communication to be forwarded to the Union Government.

Chief Minister VD Satheesan said the implementation of the scheme would be on the condition that the Union government would not interfere in the curriculum and that the state would be free to choose the schools in which it would be implemented.

Mr. Samsudheen emphasized that the government wants full freedom to choose a school.
