The court for the Charhattisgarh’s Durg district on Wednesday (July 30, 2025) destroyed requests for bail of both nuns and resident Narayanpur – who were arrested last week for charging people and violent religious transformations – watched jurisdiction. The court said it could not go into the benefit of the case.
In his order of the judge of the next meeting, Anish Dubey quoted Section 11 of the National Investigation Agency of 2008 to point out the question of jurisdiction and order applicants – Jeptišky Preathi Mary and Vandan Francis and Sukman Mandavi – to move a special court for relief.
The Court Noted That Separation 2 (1) of the nia Act, 2008 Contains and Separate Schedule That Includes Section 370 of the Now Abolisted Indian Penal Code, 1860. It Further Added that Section 143 Accushed of Violation) Pertains to “Traffic of A Person” WHICH IS SIMILAR to SECTION 370 IPC. As quoting the Government orders of Chhattisgarh, to bring the courts that have been granted jurisdiction to hear such cases in different divisions, she said that applicants were shifting a designated court.

Previously, applicants said they were accused of mere suspicion. The application also stated that due to poverty and lack of employment, these three girls voluntarily went to Agra to work and learn work. The girls were already followers of Christianity, and therefore there was no doubt about their transformation, adding applications.
The bail was against the prosecutor who stated that since the defendant was imposed by section 143 of the Indian Criminal Code, “this court has no power to hear the application for bail”.
The nuns and Mrs. Mandavi were arrested by the government’s railway police (GRP) at the Durg railway station in Chhattisgarh 25. This question raised protests of political parties across the spectrum in the native state of the nuns of Kerala.

Brinda Karat Head (m) CPI met with both nuns in the Durg Central Jail in Chhattisgarh, after which she called the “unconstitutional and illegal” arrest and demanded their immediate release.
Mrs. Karat also organized a press conference in Raipur, where she said that the accusation against nuns was false.
