The Nellore Municipal Corporation (NMC) has developed 30 of the 44 parks spread across Nellore City and Nellore Rural Constituencies as part of the city’s beautification programme. Work on the remaining 14 parks is ongoing.
Speaking to The Hindu, NMC Commissioner YO Nandan said, “City parks in Nellore City constituency are being built with ₹25 crore, including ₹20 crore contribution through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds and ₹5 crore under National Clean Air Program (NCAP) funds and municipal funds.
“So far, 30 parks in Nellore City constituency have been given a facelift and the construction of the remaining 14 parks will be completed by the end of this month,” he said, adding that 29 parks in Nellore Rural constituency have already been given a facelift with compound walls and greenery at a cost of ₹7 crore during the first park phase and another 20 will soon be upgraded in the second park phase.
Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy had earlier launched the ‘Chandranna Parkula Baata’ program to develop parks in his constituency. The NMC has also started works to improve infrastructure, facilities and maintenance under the city beautification programme.
The Commissioner visited Satyanarayanapuram Parks, Zakir Hussain Nagar Parks and Bangla Thota Parks in Divisions 4, 7 and 9 on Thursday (November 6, 2025). He directed the staff to clear the roads leading to the parks, remove obstructions and keep them clean. He ordered the contractors to speed up the work.
