NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL), a subsidiary of NLC India Ltd. (NLCIL), has signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SJVN Limited (SJVNL), a Navaratna Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Power, to set up a 200 MW wind farm project.
According to NLCIL, the PPA was signed in Chennai on Tuesday in the presence of NLCIL Chairman and Managing Director Prasanna Kumar Motupalli and SJVNL Chairman and Managing Director Bhupender Gupta.
The PPA is part of SJVNL’s 600 MW Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) project for wind power (Wind-2 Tranche) which was awarded through competitive tariff-based bidding. The project is expected to generate around 500 million units of green energy annually.
The PPA also reflects a strong collaboration between the two central public sector undertakings to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy in India while ensuring long-term energy security.
