Former Minister of Trade Unions and leader Bihar BJP Ashwini Kumar Pick on Thursday (April 10, 2025) expressed their “personal wishes” to make Bihar Nitish Kumar, Deputy Prime Minister for his “huge” contribution to the National Democratic Alliance.
“Nitishji’s contribution to NDA is huge and strengthens the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi playing the role of anchor in the coalition government both on Wednesday and in the state. He told Mediaperons in a patelter.
Mr. Choubey, a former BJP deputy from Buxar and the Minister of Trade Union, also held key portfolios as a member of the cabinet of Mr. Kumar in the NDA of the past. He has been associated with the BJP for almost five decades and is known for Hindutva’s hard policy.
In the elections at Lok Sabha in 2024, Mr. Pick was rejected by the BJP and Mithiles Tiwari, which was built from Boxar, lost to Rashtriya Janata’s opposition to the candidate Sudhakar Singh.
With the elections of the Assembly in Bihar due in October-List of November this year, the management of BJP repeated that the NDA will attack the vote under the leadership of Mr. Kumar. Meanwhile, the “personal wishes” of Mr. Choubey launched sharp reactions of opposition parties and even from BJP. “It will be a problem that we decide on our leadership. It may be someone’s personal wish, but all party leaders should refrain from commenting that could cause strong reactions,” said BJP leader in Bihar while preferring anonymity. “If the highest leadership finds that Mr. Kumar is worthy, the representative will improve the position of PM, but right now there is no such plan or discussion of anyone,” he added.
The leader and spokesman of RJD Mrityunjay Tiwari took Jibe. “Why only PM representative, why not PM?” he asked. The leader of the Congress state refused to comment and stated that “they would not respond to personal wishes”. “Let Mr. Kumar become the president of the United States, why only PM representatives?” He said the leader of Congress in joke.
